what a night...
earthtones was last night, and it was a night to remember. i officially miss playing the violin and performing. i remember taking it for granted when i was younger, concerts were really no big deal. but last night, when there were just 6 of us performing for a crowd of 500, i felt the rush. granted, i have to give huge props to the rest of my sextet, you guys are just incredible, and there's no way i could have gotten to perform at earthtones without you guys.
master T (aka black guy muchmusic VJ with the long hair), was the MC of the event. i will ALWAYS remember when he gave the bios for all of us prior to us performing. in summary, it went something like this: "joanna finished her ARCT at age 13, elaine started playing violin at age 4, keith took up violin as a second instrument and finished grade 10 violin and piano, terence plays both viola and violin, jasmine was the principal cellist for an orchestra AND ivan... ivan's life ambition is to go to the moon and discover the secrets of chocolate chip cookies and milk" that's right, we wrote our own bios and mine was pure jokes. i didn't realize they'd read it... i thought it would just go on the wesbite... but alas, i was wrong. it gave the crowd a good laugh, and a moment to remember on my part. the performance itself went quite well. despite the fact that we rushed and of course, i missed a few little things, i was told it sounded great from the audience. i'm happy to hear that.
thank you very much VANESSA, for coming out. i'm sorry i didn't get to chat with you, but i very much appreciate you coming out and supporting a good cause.
on a side note, a big happy BIRTHDAY to Gord!

just one of those days...
i emerged from sheppard center after finishing my day at school just like i have done so many times before for the past 4 years. this time it was just one of those days, where everything feels like it's in place. the cool breeze into your face, the sun still bright and ready to set, sixpence blasting into my ears from my iPod, a smile on my face after teaching 5 year olds about health and exercise. what an amazing feeling.

a bit of advertising...
you might have already gotten an email from me, but i'll post it here anyway. if any of you are interested in a night of great music and great performances for a good cause, come out to EARTHTONES on Nov 19th. Ticket's are $10 and you'll see a ton of great performances by med students. All proceeds go to a variety of different charities, the focus of the charities are children with AIDS in Africa this year (but there are other causes that the proceeds go to as well). It will take place at Convocation Hall, and to top things off, you'll be hearing me playing a little piece as part of an ensemble as well. Shoot me an email if you're interested in coming.
i finished my gross anatomy part II exam yesterday. i can't believe we finished the entire human anatomy in 10 weeks. it was... intense. but i learned so much. i hope i don't forget it all, because i'll have to revisit anatomy again in the future, that's for sure.
now, it's on to the function part of structure and function. physiology is up next. it's gonna be hella boring.... all lectures, and very few practicals. and then a huge MC test to top things off at the end of december. BORING.
on a side note, i want to do something eventful for new years this year. ie. not bumming around at my place. wendy and i also decided that we're going to go to the clubs at least once this holiday, and we don't want to hear any whining about it being too cold. we're not that old... yet.
